ABOUT METHODS FINDINGS RESEARCH TEAM
OVERVIEW
The Cannabis Policy Study in the Territories is an annual repeat cross-sectional study conducted among a total of approximately 1,500 participants (500 in each of the three territories in Canada) aged 16+. Respondents are recruited across the three territories through mail push-to-web invitations sent via Canada Post licensed residential mailing lists, which include a near census of households across the three territories. The online survey is available in English, French, Inuktitut, and Inuinnaqtun. Each year data collections occur online over a period of 6 to 8 weeks starting in September.
The survey assesses cannabis prevalence and patterns of use; cannabis purchasing and price, and retail environment; cannabis risk behaviours, perceptions of risk and social norms; and effectiveness of cannabis regulatory policies and socio-demographic information. A copy of the 2022 survey is available below.
To improve community engagement and study participation in Nunavut, a Nunavut Advisory Council including members residing in or working in Nunavut was established in April 2022. The research team seeks feedback from the Nunavut Advisory Council on survey content, participant recruitment materials and strategies, as well as the interpretation of study findings.
